Give

You do not have to golf to help.

Donations go to the same place entry fees do, and they get there faster.

Gifts are tax deductible to the extent the law allows. Minnesota Mulligans for Mental Health is a registered 501(c)(3), EIN 41-4036938.

Tax deductibility

What you can write off.

A gift is deductible when you get nothing back for it. Anything you do get back, a round of golf, a meal, a place in a raffle, comes off the deduction first.

  • Player or foursome entry

    Partly deductible

Your entry buys $68.00 of golf (cart and green fees). Subtract that from the $125.00 entry fee, and the rest is deductible.

  • Donation or hole sponsorship with no golf

    Fully deductible

Pay for a sign at a tee box, take no spots and no meals, and the whole amount is a gift.

  • Sponsorship that includes golf

    Partly deductible

Subtract the fair market value of the spots and meals in the package. Logo recognition is advertising, and does not count against you.

  • Raffle tickets and mulligans

    Not deductible

The IRS treats a raffle as a game of chance, and a mulligan is an entry into the game. Neither is a gift.

The fair market value of one entry is $68.00, cart and green fees only. Every receipt for an entry states it, because that is the number a golfer subtracts.
